What an amazing week we had at the 2021 Minto US Open Pickleball Championships powered by Margaritaville! The excitement to be back after such a continuing tough year was amazing. And we know so many of you weren’t able to come which is why we, teaming up with Chris and Terri, the founders of the tournament, and the city of Naples, FL wanted to make sure we brought you the best live streaming possible during the week.
We invested in bringing in the big truck all week longA loud word(s) spoken by a player or line judge(s) to indicate to the referee and/or players that a live ball has not touched in the required court space. The preferred word to indicate a line call is “OUT”. Distinctive hand signals can be used in conjunction with a line call. Words such as “wide”, “long”, “no”, “deep” are also... More and are so glad you were able to catch some of the action. We wish we could have cameras running on all the courts every single day and hopefully, someday, we can bring you that, but this year was special in that the Minto US Open Pickleball Championships powered by Margaritaville was the first event in history to bring pickleball to live national cable television by airing the gold medal matches on CBS Sports Network.
And we are excited to see that CBS Sports Network has decided to re-air the matches today starting at 10am ET with the Men’s and Women’s PRO Doubles Gold. BUT even more exciting is the debut of the MIXED PRO Doubles gold match which hasn’t been aired yet at all. So make sure you tune in for that at 7pm ET tonight, followed by the Men’s and Women’s Gold matches which will repeat twice after the MIXED PRO.
It’s an exciting time in the world of pickleball and we are so glad you are with us for the growth. But sometimes, what makes pickleball special, are the little moments of victory, when you have to fight for that one point. Here’s a moment that we want to highlight from Day 6 of the Men’s Doubles Bronze match with Kyle Yates and Matt Wright battling it outA loud word(s) spoken by a player or line judge(s) to indicate to the referee and/or players that a live ball has not touched in the required court space. The preferred word to indicate a line call is “OUT”. Distinctive hand signals can be used in conjunction with a line call. Words such as “wide”, “long”, “no”, “deep” are also... More with Tyson McGuffin and Riley Newman. After cramping severely in Game 2, Kyle comes back in Game 3 with this amazing point which we thought you would like. Remember to watch the Gold matches today on CBS Sports Network, but remember pickleball was made for points like these which are available to all on our Facebook and YouTube pages right now.
