It’s finally 2021, and with a new year comes a new hope. And we’re hopeful that things are getting closer and closer to normal and we’ll be able to be back on the pickleball courts with our friends and start playing the game we love like we used to.
One of things that people wondered about during this pandemic was, “What’s going to happen to pickleball?” Well, there are many signs that pickleball and the future of the game are still strong. All over the country players are coming outA loud word(s) spoken by a player or line judge(s) to indicate to the referee and/or players that a live ball has not touched in the required court space. The preferred word to indicate a line call is “OUT”. Distinctive hand signals can be used in conjunction with a line call. Words such as “wide”, “long”, “no”, “deep” are also... More in drove, governments are clueing into pickleball, pickleball was even often on the list of safe COVID activities, and new courts are being built.
The East Naples Community Park, home of the Minto US Pickleball Open Pickleball Championships has added new courts to the already impressive offering. This brings their total number of courts to 64. Combine that with a new shade structure, better wifi, and Covid safe water filling stations, it looks like 2021 is the year we will see the biggest party in pickleball return.
